What is I-CAN! E-File?

I-CAN! E-File (www.icanefile.org) is a free, Internet-based program that enables taxpayers with incomes less than $50,000 to prepare their income tax returns free of charge from anywhere in the country.  Last year I-CAN! E-File returned over $18 million dollars to low to moderate wage earners, 7.2 million of which were Earned Income Credit Tax dollars.   

How does I-CAN! E-File work?

  1. Taxpayers access I-CAN! E-File via the Internet from their home, a library, a VITA partner site, or any other location with an Internet connection.

  3. Taxpayers go through a series of secure web pages inputting answers to a series of simple, interactive questions.

  5. Once all of the questions have been answered, the information is compiled and placed in federal and/or state forms that can either be e-filed or printed. 

Employers

If you are an employer, you can offer your employees a FREE resource to help them file their taxes.  It's as easy as including an insert in paychecks, sending an email or distributing informational materials to your employees.
