You may be eligible for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit if:

  • you have children and earned less than $39,783 in 2007

  • you do not have children and earned less than $14,590 in 2007

  • You have a valid Social Security Number for each member

  • You are not "Married filing Separately"

  • You are a US Citizen or resident alien

  • You do not file Form 2555 or 2555 -EZ

  • You have less than $2,900 in investment income

  • You have earned at least $1 in income

  • You are not the qualifying child of another tax payer
